THE EVERYDAY

The past few days have just been magical. Late night bike rides, home made smoothies for dinner and spending that much needed time away from the computer, opting to read some good books out in the sunshine instead. I finished "The Fault in Our Stars" yesterday and to say it was perfect does not do it justice. I didn't cry like I thought I would, but everything about this novel, the characters, the writing, the raw realness of it all. Just read it! And if you have already and want to talk about it, email me! Also, what is everyone reading next? I'm on the hunt!

Now on to the outfit: I don't know about you, but a lot of the time when I see outfit posts from bloggers that are so cute and so style I think, "How could this person be rocking those high heels all day? Do people really look like this on a daily basis?" Don't get me wrong, I like getting dressed up every now and again (mostly reserved for the date nights). But on any normal day you will find me representing the classic tee, jeans, flip flops, and unkempt hair. So today I wanted to show you what a normal day outfit looks like for me. No pretending. This is it.

What is your every day attire?

HAPPY READING

Happy Monday!! I don't know about you, but whenever the weather starts to get nice all I want to do is grab a good book and blanket and get outside and read in the sunlight. Us Seattleites need as much sun as we can get! Here are a list of books I have been reading lately! Any book suggestions? Leave your favorites in the comment section below! :)

THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER - I've heard about this book for years but got it as a Christmas gift this last year and finally dove right in. It took me less than 24 hours to read cover to cover. Such a well written book about those high school years. You find a companion in each character or remember them from your own high school. A definite read!
OH, THE PLACES YOU'LL GO - The classic high school graduation gift. It might seem childish, but this book can teach you so much about life and all that it has to offer. If you ever need a little bit of encouragement head to the children's section of the library, sit down on that giant stuffed dog and give this a read.
THE FAULT IN OUR STARS - As mentioned on my YouTube channel, I'm a total groupie and read books right before the movie comes out. Can't wait to sink my teeth into this book! Want to read it with me? Shoot me an email and we can be reading buddies ;)
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD - A classic favorite since I was forced to read it in the ninth grade. I have told myself since then that I would name my daughter Scout one day!
TWILIGHT - I have no shame to list this as one of my favorite books. Whenever I'm in the mood for a good little romance and no fuss read, this is my book! Team Edward!
SPOTS - I started reading this book a few weeks back and have quickly come to adore it. The writing style from this new author and her autobiography growing up in South Africa during the apartheid is so raw. I love reading this tale through the eyes of a child.

HAIRSPIRATION

Today's 'hairspiration' of the week inspired from my Pinterest board is the Fishtail Wrap Around. I've seen this look lately on Pinterest and Instagram. I posted my version here, and per request here's the tutorial! I'm all for pretty braid hairstyles this season (the brad obsession continues). Below you will find a short step by step tutorial to help you achieve this look. As well as a little video to make it even easier to follow! Let me know if it helps at all! Make sure to give the video a thumbs up if you like, and make sure to subscribe to the new YouTube channel ;)

Side note: The lovely Shannon from GBO Fashion had her baby! Yay! So you can find me guest posting more hairspirations over here today! Make sure to check it out!

STEP ONE: Brush through hair and create a deep side part. Gather small section in the front, pulling rest of hair to back.
STEP TWO: Make a small simple braid and secure with bobbi pin.
STEP THREE: Take the rest of hair and create a side french braid by separating into two equal sections and criss-cross. Secure with small elastic.
STEP FOUR: Take front braid and wrap around french braid. Secure with the existing bobbi pin and any extra bobbi pins as needed.

Now for a little video help!

OH, HEY THERE YOUTUBE!

So, I officially made a YouTube channel last night. Yep, it happened and I don't know what I was thinking. It's simple and awkward all wrapped up into one. If you feel like watching 3 minutes of me just rambling about 10 random facts about myself (spoiler: there's some double jointed fun, flower crowns, and Parks and Rec) then make sure to head over here, or just watch below. Make sure to give it a thumbs up if you like, and leave a comment with what you want to see next! Eeee! Have fun staring at my face...?

CINCO DE MAYO

May is quickly shaping up to be one of my favorite months! Can it really be May already? Speaking of May, I hope you all had a fabulous and safe Cinco de Mayo! Eric and I decided last minute to head out to the The Matador for dinner. We needed a proper Tex-Mex meal to celebrate in the festivities. Lucky for us the wait was only 40 minutes (definitely worth it)! Since the weather was perfect we walked around downtown and checked out the local dollar book store while we waited. Eric was also a big fan of my hairstyle last night (tutorial coming soon) so he snapped a few of the photos above. Love him! We ended our night binge watching Game of Thrones and Mad Men... it was a late night. How did you celebrate your Cinco de Mayo?!
If you are ever in the northwest area, make sure to hit up The Matador! I would highly recommend getting the Texas Size Nachos! But be warned, this "starter plate" is definitely a meal of its own! xx

LADYGRAM

Sharing mini moments lately from the iPhone via the Instagram @tanyajtaylor. Make sure to follow along in the adventure! Happy Cinco de Mayo! :)

P.S. Thank you all for your amazing input from my last post. I can't wait to start brainstorming and creating more fun posts shortly! xx

Lots of rambling...

You guys! It's May! And you know what else? It's 85 degrees here in Seattle!!! What? I'm telling you, this never happens. This whole week has just been magical. I have loved getting my tan on, having late night runs through the park with my main squeeze, bike rides, bon fires. Summer can come early if it wants to! And I'm not going to lie, nothing beats Seattle in the summer time! Okay, this post has had a lot of short sentences and exclamation points, BUT you get the picture! I just wanted to stop in really quickly and say happy first day of May!! And also, I wanted to say a little thank you to all of you! Thank you to all of you who have been there from the beginning, and all of you who are just now joining in on the fun! You guys are really what keeps me going with this here blogging space, and I love it! ALSO, Eric has been bugging me about starting up a little web series. Not really sure what I'll talk about. Perhaps clothes, make-up, video hair tutorials. Whatever it is, it will be awkward and awesome! But since I value all of your opinions, I want to ask you, my readers, what you would like to see.

This is your time to give me your feedback. More outfit photos, hair tutorials, videos, photography, you name it! Leave your thoughts in the comment section below!!
