Hairspiration

Today's 'hairspiration' of the week inspired from my Pinterest board is the Triple Twisted Ponytail. I stumbled across this look on Pinterest the other day and knew instantly I wanted to try it for myself. I'm all for easy and relaxed hairstyles this Spring season (and braids, you know how much I love my braids). You won't believe how easy it is to do on your own! Below you will find a helpful step by step tutorial to help you achieve this look.

If you recreate this look, make sure to tag me in your Instagrams so I can see! (@tanyajtaylor)

STEP ONE: Brush through hair and create three equal sections. Begin with middle section and twist in clockwise motion (about two to three twists). Secure twist with bobbi pins.
STEP TWO: Take left section and repeat step one by twisting in clockwise motion. Secure twist with bobbi pins near middle twist.
STEP THREE: Take right section, twist in counter-clockwise motion and bring section over to the left side, wrapping around and under previous twists.
STEP FOUR: Secure with as many bobbi pins as necessary. Pull, tug and backcomb to give ponytail that messy look.

Little Lady - Adri Cisneros

Introducing Adri Cisneros from Adri Lately!

... a little introduction:
Hi there! My name is Adri (pronounced Ay-dree) and I'm a beach loving gal from LA. Fashion is in my blood and has lead me to create my blog Adri Lately and work as a personal stylist. When I'm not playing with clothes, you can find me exploring LA with a chai in hand.

How would you describe your blog?
My blog is a place to stop by for easy practical fashion inspiration. It's wearable fashion that's effortless and provides some tips on style plus some insight into my life.

What does a typical day look like for you?
Oh gosh! Every day is very different. But it usually involves a Starbucks run (gotta have my chai), yoga, lots of emailing, and an excessive amount of time on Instagram.

What do you do outside of work?
Being that I'm on a computer so much, I try to step away from it during my time off by going on as many dates with my favorite guy. Whether it's hiking or trying a new place to eat, it's definitely the highlight of my week.

Staple piece for Spring?
A great pair of sandals that you can wear well into Summer is my number one for Spring. I usually go for a neutral color, but this year I'm on the hunt for a leopard pair which is a fun neutral.

Hairspiration

I've been getting a lot of emails, comments and traffic lately surrounding my Coachella 'hairspiration' post which can be found here. Per request I'm doing a more in depth tutorial on the low fishtail up-do. I love that you could rock this hairstyle at Coachella, prom, a wedding, or even for that dressy night out. So below you will find a helpful step by step tutorial to help you achieve this look.

STEP ONE: Brush through hair and create a center part using your fingers or a comb.
STEP TWO: Take one side and loosely make a fishtail braid, securing with small elastic. Using fingers to pull apart bits and pieces to give it that messy look.
STEP THREE: Repeat step two to the other side, creating your fishtail braid pigtails.
STEP FOUR: Take one pigtail and lay horizontal to the opposite side, bringing to a slight upward angle towards top of ear. Secure with as many pins as necessary. Repeat on other side, bringing the opposite pigtail at a slight upward angle towards the top of the other ear. Secure with as many pins as necessary. Make sure to tuck the end pieces underneath braids, securing with pins, and there you have it!
* To give it that bohemian touch and fun, pin in a flower!

Hairspiration

Today's 'hairspiration' of the week inspired from my Pinterest board is the side snake braid. I've seen this look on Pinterest for a while now but haven't been able to find a tutorial... until yesterday, thanks to the lovely Amber from Barefoot Blonde!! You won't believe how easy it is to do on your own! Below you will find a helpful step by step tutorial to help you achieve this look.

The inspiration vs. my take.

Now onto the tutorial!

STEP ONE: Brush through hair and create side part. *Side note: To give your hair that extra bit of wave, you can either loosely curl it or sleep with a braid and shake it out the next morning.
STEP TWO: Take a top section 2 inches back and below and bobbi pin behind ear. Take remaining section underneath and gather, pulling rest of hair behind shoulder.
STEP THREE: Create a simple braid down. Make sure to pull in a backward motion to ensure that your braid will lay flat again head when done.
STEP FOUR: Leave about an inch at the bottom of your braid, keeping separated the three sections.
STEP FIVE: Take two of the end sections and gather into one hand. With the remaining section, hold down while you use your fingers with other hand to pull braid straight up. This will create a tight zig zag look of a snake.
STEP SIX: Remove bobbi pin and use to secure the braid in the back. And there you have it!

#tbt

Whenever I am going through stressful moments in my life I like to procrastinate and organize. Organize anything that is in front of me. This time around I've turned to my computer and all the pretty pictures on it. Granted, this is something that I've been meaning to do for a long time (along with backing up my hard drive - not wanting to pull a SATC Carrie moment over here). While going through my photos I found some gems I wanted to share and re-share before I forget about them all over again when they make their way into their proper folders. So here's a little #tbt for your Thursday! Enjoy!

STEP TWO: While securing ponytail with elastic, create a small looped bun with hair peeking down the back.
STEP THREE: Pull that excess hair around secured elastic in counterclockwise motion. Secure hair with bobbi pins.
STEP FOUR: To give it that messy, worn in look, pull little strands to add texture. And there you have it!

Our Fremont date

For months Eric had been talking non stop about getting these amazing Caribbean sandwiches in Fremont. We attempted to get some over the Summer, but after waiting in line for over an hour we found out that it's cash only (cue sad face) and hit up Spaghetti Factory instead. You know something is good though when people stand in line, outside, in Seattle, in the rain, for hours. Well, the weekend before my birthday we finally got ourselves back out to Fremont (cash in hand) and waited in another long line for these "amazing" sandwiches. And guys, they were MIND BLOWING! Do yourself a favor and head over to Paseo whenever you are in town, say hello to the Fremont Troll (one of my favorite landmarks) and snap pictures of the Seattle skyline at Kerry Park!

Happy weekend!! xx
