WELCOME TO FLORIDA

Can I just say how much I am loving dusting off the cobwebs on this here site? Florida has definitely served as a source of inspiration. Perhaps its the ever present culture shock, palm trees (I LOVE palm trees), daily swims in the pool, snorkeling with manatees, constant sunshine, lots of reading time, what have you.

I thought that for today's update I'd share with you a few of the pretty scenery that surrounds me on a daily basis. Our neighborhood. More pictures to come (!!!)

  27. Welcome to Florida! I have been meaning to give you some tips but haven't gotten around to it. Well.. here I am now! Don't miss out on visiting Zoo Miami and Lion County Safari in West Palm Beach. Believe me you won't regret it I promise. There's a pretty decent size Forever 21 in Aventura Mall if you check it out yet. I love the separate jewelry store. Miller Ale House in Sunny Isles/N.Miami Beach and Capones on Himmarshee St. is worth the bite if you want a quick lunch or dinner. Ale House is a bit cheaper and has really good lunch special but Capones may be a little closer to you and best of all - it's on the water! The beer battered mushrooms at Capones are pretty good. I frequent Greynolds Park pretty much everyday as I only live a few blocks away. It's a very, very pretty park with a strong past. It was once a prison way back in the day and a lot of hippie's hung around the park in the 60's. The hill is the highest point in Miami Dade County and is a man-made trash filled mountain. I also frequent Oleta River State Park often. It's a very, very pretty park too! The beach is inland so you won't experience much of big waves. I personally love the place because of the private and peacefulness. But please don't on a Holiday. All of us Cubans will be there bbqing'! There is pier to fish off of, canoeing and biking. Beer Can Island is a place I also frequent often which can be seen from the pier but it can only be access by a boat (duh Nicole, that's why it's called a Island, ha!). If you want to head over to Bimini for just a day for cheap then you gotta' check out RW Bimini. You may explore for a day or spend a few on the island. It's worth the trip and is SUPER cheap. The day explore starts at $50. Um.. I love the Hollywood Boardwalk! I don't have much to say about it though, ha! Defiantly check out the Everglades. It is really pretty there. I enjoyed the air boat rides. You can always hop on the Tri-Rail (I think it's $2 all day on weekends, not sure) to get around from Miami to West Palm Beach. You can bring a bike along too (the last time I recalled, not sure now). The Metromover is free in Miami. It has inner and outer bounds. It's great to get around and you can't get loss but I don't suggest the outer bounds unless you don't mind going through real ghetto areas (I am not kidding you..) Oh, and don't sit backwards on it unless of course you don't mind throwing up!

I dunno girl, that's all I got. I'm sorry if I said to much, ha.

    2. No problem!! Forgot to include when you get a Miami Dade County Public Library (you can get one although you live in Broward) when ever you check out books and/or DVD's ask for the free pass of your choice (up to 4 people) to Zoo Miami, Miami Science Museum and more. Not sure how much longer the county is offering the passes but I will tell you each library always only have a few left as everyone picks one up! Oh, and Ft.Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science is a MUST see and is about 2000000 times better then Miami Museum of Science will ever be. I'll let you know if anything else pops up in my head. Have great time!!
