TASSELLOVE + RANDOMNESS

Happy Friday my loves! Is everyone ready for February? I've never been the best about decorating for the holidays but this year I told myself I would be better! I'm even getting ahead of schedule and adding little bits here and there to make this Valentine's day a pretty one, like snagging this tassel garlands from tassellove. Seriously, how cute is this? It's that perfect piece of decor that you can add to any wall in your home, for a Valentine's Day party photobooth station or to hang in a cute little baby room. If it weren't so late I would have gotten myself a Seahawks themed one too, but alas, I can't be on top of everything.

This next month is going to prove to be a busy one for me and Eric. Our lease is ending in a few weeks and we decided to take the leap and buy a house. So the next few weeks we will be scouring Zillow and Redfin and going on lots of fun driving dates with our realtor. I'm super sad to be leaving our place. It's in an incredible location, walking distance to lots of cool restaurants, parks, the city, and just a short driving distance from both of our parents. I'm going to miss all those dinner invites. Hopefully those won't stop even if we do move a little bit further away ;) I think most of all though, I'm going to miss all of our amazing friends we have made while living here. BUT, I am excited for this next big adventure.

Also, after seeing this hairstyle from Amber on Barefoot Blonde it made me a little sad that I had chopped my hair off, but only for a second. Luckily my hair is thick enough that braids aren't completely out of the question for me. If you want to try this hairstyle too, check out here tutorial here

Okay, that is it. #GOHAWKS

INSTA-OUTFIT

Wearing: MeUndies Tee | GAP Jeans DSW Wedges (old) - Similar here and here
Never underestimate the power of a simple tee, jeans and heels. I love how switching out sneakers for wedges can turn any look from day to night. It just gives you that little burst of confidence. And seeing as how Seattle decided to grace us with 60+ degree weather, short sleeves were a must! Also, Eric was a big fan of this look, so of course it needed to be documented.
We've been staying at my parents house this weekend dog sitting my little man, Teddy. Hence the awesome garage shot. But he's just about the cutest miniature dachshund you have ever seen (of course I'm biased). So don't mind me, I'm just getting in all the snuggles and kisses I can until my parents come home later today!

HALF-UP BRAID

I've been having a lot of fun playing around with different hairstyles these past few days. I have come to find that the dirtier your hair is the better it will hold those smaller pieces in place (especially if your hair is layered). I have a few more hair posts lined up, but shoot me an email or comment below if there is a particular style in mind you want me to try! Short haired ladies, unite!

To Create
step one: Part hair down the center.
step TWO: Gather a small section from the front of hair on one side and french braid. Secure with bobby pin at the bottom to hold in place.
step three: Repeat on other side.
step Four: Gather both sections and secure with small elastic above the nape of the neck.

TWISTED BUN

As always, the dirtier the hair the better! Here's another fun and quick hair style to wear out on the town or feeling fresh faced grabbing brunch with your girlfriends.

To Create
step one: Part hair down the center or slightly parted to one side. Separate hair into two equal sections.
step TWO: Grab one section of hair and twist tightly away from face. Bring to the nap of neck and secure with bobby pins.
step three: Repeat on other side.
step Four: Go around and secure with more bobby pins until it feels completely secure.

MEUNDIES

I'm so happy to finally be sharing with you guys this fun little side collaboration I have been working on these past few months. If you haven't noticed from my Instagram and Pinterest, I have been collaborating with the new company MeUndies, and helping spread the word through my social media. You guys, hands down one of the coolest companies I have ever worked with! Not only are they super efficient with their packaging and mailing, but their products are by far the softest items in my wardrobe at the moment. MeUndies is a clothing business based out of Los Angeles that specializes in making clothing and underwear SO comfortable that you won't want to buy from anywhere else. Oh, did I mention they have super cute designs on their products as well? Check out these bad boys! Ever since our collaboration together, Eric has been nothing but impressed with each and every piece. I swear if we were the same size, he would be sneaking my shirts for himself. Looks like I know what to get him for his birthday ::winks::
Web
... and now, a little bit from them -
"MeUndies is a family. Everyone from our employees to our customers are a part of that family. We are dedicated to creating the most comfortable undies that the world has ever known, and after years of development, we've done it. From our luxuriously soft Modal fabric, to our limited edition artist collaborations - our undies are the perfect combination of comfort, quality, and design, and our customers agree."

... and their favorite piece and why -
"I love our Women's Brief in Camo, makes me feel like I can take on the world and kick some serious ass!"
- MeUndies, Karolina Swietoniowska

Thanks for having me along for the ride MeUndies!

^^ Don't mind the wrinkles in this shirt. I slept in it per Eric's request. Lots of snuggles while wearing this one. Also, these sweatpants need a shout out all their own for a moment. While I was recovering from my miscarriage, I wore these bad boys to the hospital and every doctors appointment. They gave me that little boost of security when all I wanted to do was hide. In fact, while I was getting my blood drawn to make sure everything was happening naturally, the nurse asked me where I got them. Kind of awkward to ask under the circumstances but strangely I didn't mind sharing the love. ^^
^^ SOOOOO soft and comfortable. Hands down, no joke, buy them now, what are you waiting for, go! That is all. ^^

CABIN FEVER

The winter season just keeps on giving! I'm keeping true to my word and taking full advantage of any little getaway I can sneak in this year! Thank goodness for three day weekends, Eric and I took ourselves to the mountains! We went snowmobiling with his family, nearly got stranded in the middle of nowhere and snuggled up to space heaters in their cabin just in time to watch the Seahawks stamp their tickets to the Superbowl. I may have grown an ulcer after that game, but my boys did it! What fun adventures did you go on this weekend?

^^ The snow was coming down so hard, everything looked like you were watching a static TV screen! So beautiful! ^^
^^ I could just squeeze those cheeks all day long! Gosh, I love him!! ^^
^^ Snowed in! Thank goodness I had my copy of "Not That Kind of Girl" with me. The perfect amount of R&R!" ^^

TOP KNOT

Happy Martin Luther King Day!
I've been a fan of the top knot since my ballerina days at the ripe old age of two. I've somehow always been blessed with long hair at a young age and it hasn't stopped since. When I decided to chop off a good chunk of my hair this time around I was worried I wouldn't be able to rock my favorite go to style anymore. To my surprise I got the tiniest/cutest top knot on the top of my head, but nonetheless it's there (thanks to a lot of bobby pins for the back)! To all my short haired ladies, chant to yourselves "Yes we can!" and get yourself some good bobby pins. And of course, always try with day old dirty hair. Gotta love it ;)

DEFINING PART

I've never been one to stick with one particular part when it comes to my hair. I love playing around with defying parts, turning it this way or that. This particular day I dug deep at the gym and went animalistic when it came to pushing it to the limits. Safe to say, Eric had to peel me off the ground the next day. Still feeling it in those glutes! Anyhow, I snagged these pictures right after the gym because (minus the grease ball status) I was digging that deep defining part. All this to say, play around with your parts people, you may just find a good one!

P.S. Guest posting over on The Hippie Memoirs today, answering a few fun questions. You can see it HERE! You should totes check it out ;P

INSTA-OUTFIT

Wearing: GAP Sweater | GAP Jeans DSW Booties | ASOS Fedora
Always in motion. I loved this simple and comfy outfit I wore over to my parents house for dinner and Golden Globes party. Did you all watch? Apparently I need to get my butt to see more movies! On the top of my list is Birdman and Foxcatcher. Eric and I are always up for finding comedy shows to watch while in bed. We just started The Office a few weeks ago and we're already half way through the 3rd season. I love me some Steve Carell so it will be interesting to see him playing such a dark character in Foxcatcher. Also a few notes on the Golden Globes: Anna Faris and Chris Pratt are just about the cutest, slightly behind Emily Blunt and John Krasinski (um, HELLO did you see this picture? Obsessing!). J.Lo's "golden globes". When Jared Leto's hair is perpetually better than yours. That time Reese Witherspoon totally thought she had it (how awkward). And Joanne Froggatt's acceptance speech. That is all.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

MISCARRIAGE UPDATE

I've gotten a few very sweet emails lately asking how I have been since publicly speaking out about my miscarriage, as well as what mine and Eric's future plans are. You guys, no words! Thank you all so much for your continual love and support through this very difficult time for me. I thought I would post my response here. Honestly, most days have been amazing! Initially after posting about my experience I would receive the occasional pity hugs or looks. Those were not so fun. But for the most part I received nothing less than sheer admiration, love, support, patience, and understanding. Being able to talk to so many women who have undergone similar circumstances, its like this immediate bond.

To give you some perspective, I had my miscarriage in mid to late October. October 20th to be precise. It's been a few months now, and my body is finally getting back into its natural groove. That first period though, what a doozy!! (TMI?) I feel emotionally stable enough now to have those exciting talks with Eric about our future again (if we are lucky enough). When it is just us two in our own little bubble sometimes I forget how scary it all was, or how sad this whole process still is. I have my occasional off days. For instance, a few days ago a friend of ours announced her pregnancy and instead of being ecstatic for her I immediately started to cry my head off. Luckily, not in her presence. I felt terrible because I did not feel excitement for her in her time but pity for myself. My brain fast-forwarded to the next several months of having to see her in each stage of her pregnancy. To see her beautiful growing tummy and knowing that mine won't be there. To hear her talk with all the other "mommies" of the group about every big milestone and symptom of pregnancy. You guys, I've become envious of morning sickness. Is that normal?

Initially after I lost our baby I wouldn't even dream of doing it all over again. The idea of being pregnant became this very scary thing. To be honest, it still is. The fear of going through the same painful experience is too excruciating to explain. But then you see all these babies and all these pregnant women (is everyone pregnant right now or am I just imagining things?) and you realize you want to be there too! I feel like right now me and patience are in an epic battle. I was fortunate enough the first time to get pregnant just two weeks into trying, and for some reason I just assumed it would be the same this time around. No such luck. Eric has to keep reminding me that my body went through a very traumatic experience and things will fall into place when it's good and ready. I feel as long as I keep reminding myself this (over and over again) I'll be okay. In the meantime, I'll just be avoiding all you pregnant ladies like the plague!

I'm talking about my resolutions heading into this new year over on "The Village" site today (found HERE). I gave myself only three. The first one was to be happy, and I touched base on being happy for other peoples successes. Apparently I have already failed that one. Hoping to work on that over these next few months. Wish me luck! And to all you women out there trying, I wish you nothing but success, happiness, joy, and a healthy baby! And just remember, it won't always be you, but one day it will be!

THE LOB

If you haven't noticed, short hair is starting to take over the world and I am all for it! When my friend went in to cut my hair in the middle of her kitchen, she wanted to know if I needed a moment. I shook my head and said "Let's do this!" and never looked back! No words can express how freeing it is to start the new year off with a fresh look. I wish you all could pet my hair (weird?), but it is seriously super soft! Jenn, you are a miracle worker! Thanks again for being amazing at what you do!

It's been a while since I have done a hair post, and I know in the past so many of you have said that you loved them but weren't able to do the same styles because your hair was too short. Well my friends, no more excuses! First up is a simple tousled wave. I know the best way to achieve this look would be to curl with a flat iron, but I am such a noob when it comes to that. My left hand will never cooperate. So I got this look with a simple curling iron, separating hair into 1 inch sections and using my fingers to brush through. I'm always a fan of effortless looks, so I hope you all enjoy!

NEW CHAPTER

If you follow me on Instagram, then you know I made the commitment and cut off all my hair (see here). Yep, I did it. And can I just say, I'm obsessed! Long hair is great (don't get me wrong), but it also comes with its share of struggles. The amount of shampoo and conditioner I would go through alone should be a crime. Having your hair get trapped in car doors, under sleeping husbands, wrapped around clothes when taking them off, the list is endless. I can't wait to explore all that short hair has to offer - first on the list is discovering new hairstyles. To all my short haired friends, it's our time!  I can't wait to share new tutorials coming soon!

In the meantime, here are some pictures from New Years day out in Seattle. Love that city of mine. RIP long hair!!
xo

Happy New Year from my city, to yours!!
If you are ever in Seattle, make sure to walk along the Seattle waterfront. This boardwalk is my favorite, with the prettiest city, aquarium and ferris wheel as its backdrop.
RIP long hair. You served me well.

MY PERFECT LITTLE ESCAPE

The day after Christmas, Eric and I packed up our things and headed for the mountains. Two straight days of snowfall brought my heart so much happiness that I didn't even know it needed. We went snowshoeing, hiking and walked around the old town of Wallace. Hours upon hours of indoor snuggles and reading books near the fire as the snow fell. My perfect little escape. I hope you all had a fabulous holiday! Here's to 2015!!
xo
^^ Yes, it really was as cold as it looks! Eric and his dad had to shovel snow off the back garage roof because of how heavy the snow was. Afterwards, Eric wanted to get a video of himself jumping off into a pile of snow. I cannot tell you how hard his whole family and I laughed and re-watched that clip! I put it up on Instagram for all to enjoy. See the video here! And don't worry, he didn't get hurt! ^^
