THE YEAR OF TRAVEL

I wrote an article for The Village, which will be coming out next week! I'm super excited to be a part of their work, but I wanted to share a little snippet of what's to come. Plus, I've been dying to show you all more pictures from our amazing little getaway to Wallace this Christmas break (besides the ones you have already seen on Instagram). Enjoy!

"It’s 2015, and with any new year brings endless possibilities and a string of new years resolutions! If you are anything like me, this will be your umpteenth attempt at writing out a laundry list of tasks to complete followed by months of regret for not getting any of them done. Not this year. This year I mentally jotted down three simple things I wanted to accomplish this year, and I am feeling mighty confident in myself.

1. TRAVEL OFTEN. No more excuses of not enough time or not enough money. I think people take for granted how easy traveling can really be when you take a step back and see it in smaller pieces. Yes, traveling to exotic destinations would be amazing, but those aren’t the only types of travel I am talking about here. Step outside. Take a day trip to a nearby city of yours that you haven’t had the opportunity to fully explore. Try new restaurants, take a weekend road trip to the next state over, go camping, go hiking, and if money and time allows, by all means travel the world! But don’t let excuses get in the way anymore. Traveling is right outside your door. Make this the year of travel! So much good will come to your soul by exploring the tiniest of nooks to the highest mountains."

Make sure to read the rest come next week!

  1. I agree- "traveling" seems daunting when you only see it as a grand vacation to Paris! Explore your neighboring cities or just the next state over! I'm looking forward to getting back in that habit this year now that we're all settled in!

  2. I can't agree more. I started with hiking and mountaineering in 2013 and it is one of the best things I've ever done. It doesn't ask for a lot of money, but all experience is more than rewarding and I can't compare it with the travels (which I love as well). Later on I moved to the alpine climbing and all that together learned me how easy and beautifully is possible to get more peaceful and emotionally stronger. Stay the course (-:

  3. I totally agree, planning to go travelling can seem out of reach sometimes, especially when you're looking at exotic destinations! I love to get out and go hiking, and it always feels like a little mini break. I think starting small is the best way to feed the travel bug - even if you just go for a weekend away in a place not far from your hometown, you're still getting away and experiencing something new! Lovely post - oh and Happy New Year! xo

  8. love this!
people think that travelling means strictly overseas but like you mentioned, you can travel to new cities in your very state.
    or in my case, province.

love the photos as well - you've probably mentioned it before but what camera do you use?

  14. Congrats on getting to write for the village!! Traveling can be daunting but you're right... it's important to get out there and try a new place to eat or even take a day trip. Sometimes it's important to get out of your comfort zone! Happy New Years! Hope this is one of the best years for you!
