YOU OUGHTA KNOW: ASHLEY BEYER

Happy April Fools Day! Today I'm so excited to introduce the talented Ashley Beyer from Tinge Floral as my next 'You Oughta Know' spotlight feature. Fun fact: Ashley and I were friends back in elementary school before she moved away to Utah and we lost contact. It wasn't until a little over a year ago that I stumbled across her blog and realized who she was. Moral of the story, blogging is awesome and when you let it, it can make great friendships. But Ashley isn't just a good friend, she's also an extremely talented self-made florist who is quickly on the rise for someone 'you oughta know'.

Name: Ashley Beyer
Age: 25
City: Salt Lake City
Spouse: Curtis (I call him Curt, but I'm the only one allowed).
Career: Florist, it's definitely where my heart is.
Floral preference: Although I make quite a few headpieces, making the bouquet is definitely my favorite part. I'm very particular about the end result so I usually end up arranging in front of a mirror so I can keep my eye on the balance and the shape. Most times I'll remake it a few times just to make sure I get it right.
Style preference: Lately it's been these ankle boots with skinny jeans and a blousey top. I like simple style that feels easy yet put together.
Spare time choices: Lately spare time is spent writing invoices, returning emails, or setting up consultations with brides. Weekends are really the time Curt and I get to spend together, that wil be until wedding season begins... We are self proclaimed foodies and enjoy eating out on the weekends and we love nerdy board games, swearing doesn't count then right?
Next big adventure: Backpacking through France, Switzerland and Italy for a few weeks this Summer!
You oughta know: That doing what you love is the most important thing you can do for yourself. I truly believe that if you love what you do you won't work a day in your life. It was so easy for me to just do what I had always done and just accept it. I spent a lot of years wishing I was doing something different. Here I felt I was a creative person but it didn't feel like any of the jobs I was trying to find were a good fit. I had spent years with flowers in my hands working at flower shops and helping a friend with her events. It finally clicked that what I wanted to do was right in front of me and it had been all along.
Curtis always tells me to not let fear dictate my life. For the longest time that's exactly what I was doing. If there is anything I think you oughta know, I think it's do something that makes you feel alive, and spend the time doing whatever it takes to find out what that is.
If you really oughta know something about me in particular, I love candy or sugar anything all of the time. I enjoy time to think, it helps keep life in perspective, and I've become an instagram junkie, but seriously I have an addiction, and I don't want to be helped.

  18. Wow, I love her style of arranging the flowers. When my mom passed away last year, I was blown away at how typical the florists still are with their arrangments. I kept wanting things so different from what they wanted to do. She is a breath of fresh air with her style. I love the pictures. Take care,
