RAMBLINGS

Fourteen lovely pointless rambles on the sixteenth of August...

+ Shark Week, so terrible, but I can't look away.
+ Spending way too much time youtubing anything and everything.
+ We have been eating off our coffee table for the past month.
+ Don't know what to do with my life now that the Olympics are over.
+ Wishing The Bachelor would start back up already. I'm missing all my gossip material with the girls!
+ I hate the smell of lily flowers.
+ It's supposed to be 91 degrees today. I just may melt.
+ I like to shout Avril Lavigne songs when I'm upset. It lets me get out that angry wanna-be goth inside of me.
+ I think I'm the only person alive that does not like the show, Breaking Bad.
+ To eat ice cream right now or not... To eat ice cream.
+ The mister is officially obsessed with Vampire Diaries. I walked in on him watching it all by himself. So proud!
+ I'm already counting down until Christmas
+ I need a new book to read. Suggestions?
+ I wanted sixteen bullet points but the mister is forcing me to go to bed now. Fail.

  3. Hey, I'm new to your blog! You're wanting a new book to read... hmmm... never ask me that question because you'll get a list of 16 or so books! A few suggestions might be:

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers (not new, but I just read it this week and **love** it!)

Blink by Ted Dekker (This was later re-titled In The Blink Of An Eye, so the title could be different depending on what edition you get)

    Room by Emma Donoghue

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (a timeless classic)

Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech

...and I could go on! I've got a lot more books listed on my Goodreads profile http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/5665902-lori-lynn

Thanks for the comments on my blog! I love hearing from my readers!

  14. YAY Vampire Diaries :) Can't wait for it to come back! And I need a good book suggestion as well- I'll have to stalk your comments later! But if you haven't read Gone Girl yet it is a good mystery book :)

  15. bahaha, and i think i'm the only person in this world who never watch the bachelor. i wasn't interested in Vampire Diaries either, but it surprisingly addictive and i just keep watching it now. ha!

  16. Shark week - I am LOVING it!! From Olympics to shark week, I’m a happy girl. Book Suggestion - The Playdate by Louise Millar (so good), or Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire (SOO addicting, i read it in like 2 sittings).

You should read this book. It is similar to the Hunger Games.

p.s. you guys are just gorgeous.
p.p.s. I like the drivers outside of Utah better too :) much more chill and not so crazy!

  18. Oh I can't wait for the Bachelor to start up again! I love Bachelor seasons more anyway since the girls always provide more drama ;)

I recently read "Gone Girl" and "The Paris Wife" and loved them both!

    ReplyDelete
  25. First of all, that picture is beyond adorable! Also,my life seems pretty empty without Olympics, although now I don't have to feel as bad about eating carbs on an extremely regular basis :)

Also, Avril Lavigne songs are extremely effective at getting me through my bad days, too...and Christmas really could pick up the pace and just get here already.

    ReplyDelete
  26. i can't wait until christmas too--not sure why but to be honest i don't really care why i just can't wait. {i am literally like a child ;) }

  30. I'm looking for a new book to read too! please let me know if you find a good one!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Haha, loved this post! My life feels so empty without the Olympics. I read "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck lately, but it's HUGE, so it's definitely not light beach reading!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Such a good summer! Emily Maynard + Jef AND the Olympics. My life is so empty without the two. Have you read The Book Thief by Markus Zusak? It's one of my favorite books of all time! It's a bit heavier, so if you want something fast and fun, try The Uglies series or the Matched/Crossed books. (both a bit like Hunger Games)

    ReplyDelete
  33. you are stunning. and hey, i'll count down to xmas with ya! favorite holiday ever

    ReplyDelete
  34. i have to agree with you on most of them! except for breaking bad-- i loooove that show so so much. but i also love vampire diaries. and i am very proud of your husband for getting into it! and life after the olympics is just plain depressing!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I just read "The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie" about a spunky and adorable 11-year-old girl who tries to solve a murder case. It's a really fun read!

    ReplyDelete
  37. i can totally relate to you!
breaking bad makes me feel really dirty inside after watching it.
i try to tell my morals that it's just a tv show but ugh, its the worst!

  50. SHARK WEEK!!!! ohmygosh, i love it so so much. it's the best. and the worst. all at the same time.

ice cream is always a yes! always!!

i'm reading the harry potter books right now :) just started the 6th! yes, i'm a nerd! but i'd never read them before (yeah i know, i'm wayyy late to the party) so i'm allowed to be obsessed now, right?

the hobbit's on my list of books to read next, simply because i need to read it before the movie comes out! hmmmm i'm a sucker for classics, too, like if you've never read to kill a mockingbird, the great gatsby, catcher in the rye, gone with the wind (SUPER long, but amazing!) i also really liked the help! :) gosh, i love books.

    ReplyDelete
  53. You need to read The Help if you haven't already, I think it's safe to say that's one of my favorite books, and if you're a history buff like me, especially WWII, you should read Unbroken, it's a true story, and it's amazing. :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Until I read this post, I thought I was the only one who didn't like Breaking Bad! Everyone is obsessed and I just don't get it!

    ReplyDelete
  55. cute picture! <3
ooh, have you read The Princess Bride? lol. I'm totally recommending it to anyone that asks. It's amazing. I laughed sooo much.
    xx

  56. Oh my gosh this made me laugh out loud... you are so adorable. :) I'm going to try that Avril Lavigne thing.

    ReplyDelete
  57. You are not the only one who doesn't like Breaking Bad, TJ. I've not seen it but it sounds... weird. :-)

Books: if you like suspense, Dani Pettrey's Submerged is a fast read. I love anything I've read by Alex Flinn (fairy-tales) and if you like Downton Abbey, check out Lisa Bergren's latest or Susan May Warren's "Daughters of Fortune" series. Oh! And I read The Lucky One - it was quite good.

Such a cute picture - have a lovely weekend!

  70. + We got rid of cable at the beginning of summer. Is it weird that one of the things I miss most about it is Shark Week? Hehe.
+ Mr. M and I ate off of cardboard boxes for the better part of our first year of marriage ... some of my sweetest memories! Our fancy schmancy plasma TV (a wedding gift) was also propped on a cardboard box; it looked like we stole it.
+ I think I'm the only female alive who doesn't give a hoot about The Bachelor (or Bachelorette). Just. not. interested!
+ Always, always eat the ice cream. Always. With hot fudge. And sprinkles.
+ I start counting down to Christmas, the day after Christmas! Kindred spirits, we are.
+ My favorite recent read is The Age of Miracles, by Karen Thompson Walker. Quite profound, in its way ... I couldn't put it down.

What kind of books do you like? I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella is good if you like chick lit. I am a big fan of mysteries so if you like those any by Agatha Christie are good especially And Then There Were None or ones that include Hercule Poirot.
