INSIDE THE CREATIVE TOOLBOX

I got this lovely idea over on my new blogging obsession, Promise Tangeman. Yeah, you'll thank me later for this discovery.

Everyone has their own way of breaking that writers block and getting those creative juices going. We have those trusty routines that always give us that extra boost of energy, like we could get through anything. So here are some items from my "personal creative toolbox" that help me do what I do best. Make sure to share some of your own in the comment box and pass that good energy around!

1// WHITE SPACES
I absolutely love what white, crisp spaces have to offer for the imagination. Nothing to distract you. A nice clean slate to lay your ideas all out and add those pops of color!

2// PORCELAIN RAFT
Good music gives you that extra burst of energy and excitement. Heck, throw in a little '90s for all those fun flashback memories. And if you want, take a short break, get up, and move those legs!

3// GET OUTSIDE
Nothing gets ideas flowing like taking a stroll outside in nature. A change of scenery always does the trick.

4// SEARCH THE WEB
There's this little thing called the world wide web, and it's kind of my best friend. Read threw your favorite blogs, online magazines, the news... anything that inspires you. There's nothing wrong with bouncing ideas off each other to get us back on track! That's what's so incredible about the Internet!

5// A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN
When in doubt, girls night is your best friend. Take your mind off blogging and just capture all the fun memories you are having in the moment. Nothing beats silly pictures with good friends.

6// WATCH YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE
Sometimes when I want to get out of my head I like to relax on the couch, get myself a little snack and pop in one of my favorite movies. What's better than laughing out loud by yourself to loosen up that wandering mind.

  37. I'm being forced into writers block lately and I know I will definitely be using this in the near future. And Dumb & Dumber, best movie of all time

    "So you're saying there's a chance!"

  38. I totally agree with the last one! I put in discs of Gilmore Girls all the time when I'm doing creative things. I've seen it so many times that I can even be in the next room and laugh because I know what witty things they're saying, and I guess that kind of familiarity is inviting to clear my head. Lovely.

  40. We love this! We made one on our blog.

  41. I love to see what tools other writers use for inspiration because, like you said, they are not always the same! For example, you mentioned that you love white space; I actually find that stifling! I used to write in my office at Dish but the white walls forced me to explore the coffee shop across the street! One thing that we both agree on though is watching a movie or show as a way to escape. I love to let my mind breathe by distracting myself with a good show. If I’m not at home, I will use the Dish Remote Access app, which connects my iPad to my home TV through the sling adapter, to pull up an episode of Parks and Rec or something. By the time the show is done, I’m ready to get back to work!

  50. White spaces are nice, but not always easy to decorate! Brian and I recently moved into our new apartment and have decided not to paint for now, so all the walls are white - I have no idea how to decorate it! The bedroom is the hardest!
