transition

i have never been one to welcome change. i never liked when new friends were added to the mix. when people moved away. when my favorite tv shows get cancelled. you get the picture. so when the mister and i first got married and moved out to utah while he finished up school, you can guess that i was not happy. i did not like this idea of moving away from everything i knew and starting from scratch. but now with this upcoming move back to washington in exactly one week from today, i find myself again resisting change. but if this year has taught me anything, it is to move forward. always forward. with each new transition comes new adventures, new people to meet, new opportunities. it's a big world out there just wanting to be explored, and i can't be afraid anymore. i can't hold on to the past.
so what i have to say to life now: bring it.

  3. Yeah, change can be sucky. And lame. And-- well, you get the picture.

    Heh heh.

I totally agree that we need to get out of our comfort zones even when we wanna stay cocooned in that which we know and love. It can be hardest to do when we know that there's no ifs and buts about it, but ultimately the things that are new and scary soon become familiar and fun and, yes, even adventure-filled as you alluded to above.

    So...yay? :P

    But seriously, bring it.

  7. I also have problem when something changes... mostly 'cause I am affraid of drastic change... I am sort of control freak :) So it scares me if I don't know what will happen, and I usualy don't know :) So, I understand you. But on the other hand, most of the changes that happen bring something positive. I bet you'll be just fine with your dearest Mr. :)

  8. You are doing great. Just think how nice it will be to be settled back at your home in Washington. Then you'll be able to stay put for a while and not have too many changes (accept for the occasional TV show cancellation lol)

  32. I love this post - and i love your attitude. It’s funny because I’m the exact opposite. I really crave change. I get antsy and bored with a mundane routine ... and I’ve been trying to be more still and OK with things being in place for a bit.

    Good luck with the move!

  38. We have moved 7 times in the five years that we have been married, and I would be lying if I said that each move did not bother me as far as the change was concerned. Even the last few times, when I was really excited about where we were moving too...I found myself getting depressed about actually moving, and leaving what was then my home; a place where I had become comfortable. I understand how you feel whole heartedly, believe me. I do not like change in any realm of life.

  40. i'm terrified of moving! i leave for grad school in less than two months, and i've never been far from home, with the exception of summer study abroad in england. i'll be about 700 miles from any family or anything, so it's going to be a huge transition. while i'm completely terrified, i'm also rather excited.

your post gives me hope. i'm ready for my new beginning, and i know you'll conquer yours.

  55. I absolutely know what you mean about change. I like my same friends, my same pastor, my same co-workers, my same town. When the pastor gets changed, or a coworker leaves, or a friend gets sick, it disrupts my whole balance. I can't even imagine if I had to leave my town. BUT - changes are inevitable and you just need to bend with the tides. It will all work out fabulously. You will see. =)

  56. Good luck with everything to come! I think it's important to also realize that it may not be "the same" moving back as it once was. We had a similar situation, and it's just never been the same...which is okay. Great attitude you have girl!
