the to-do list & laughter

it's monday. i usually don't mind since unemployment means everyday's the weekend for me. but this particular week i am just dreading because mr. taylor leaves me all over again for business. so until saturday night, new york gets to keep him. until then, i've tried to make a list of things to occupy me upon his return.
list goes as follows:
          - catch up on all of the dishes
          - catch up on all emails
          - send out my resume to at least 10 more companies
          - phone calls with my two lovely BFF's
          - finish season 4 of Gossip Girl
          - send out 15 more thank you notes from wedding
          - make at least one "look-book" post (as to actually serve as an excuse to get dressed for the day)
          - get to chapter 50 of my recent book
          - try one new hairstyle
          - watch one movie i've never seen before
          - Go on a walk or run at least once (you know, gotta get that exercise)
          - continue thinking of fabulous things i am thankful for. oh thanksgiving, how i love you.

"thanksgiving-ness" of the day
in the wake of hardship and struggles of this world, i am so very grateful for laughter. it might sound silly, but the power of making someone laugh when they really need it is just so powerful. something i read over HERE the other day put it in perspective:
"On average, children laugh 400 times a day, while adults laugh about 15 times.  Why the gap? Did we lose something? Have we forgotten the way we used to be? Why is it that children seem to cope with life’s oddities better than adults? Perhaps it’s because they do not fully understand. But I think it’s simpler than that—they laugh. As we grow older, we get far too serious. Watch children play. They don’t need expensive toys to entertain them. Everything is fun. They are spontaneous. Only when we become adults do we start to get boring. Do we need to cultivate a different attitude? Humor is in the way we see things, the way we think. It’s an attitude, not an event. Perhaps the key lies in becoming more childlike."
my hope for everyone this week is that we all try a little bit more to see the lighter and happier things of life. may be laugh more, love more, and be more childlike. thank you laughter!

and something that always makes me laugh every time is ellen. so i'm also thankful for ellen...yep.

  2. You are so right about laughter. What is it about adults that makes us laugh less often? I fully believe that laughter keeps you younger and I'm so thankful to have a husband that makes me laugh all.the.time. Thanks for sharing that quote! I'm a new follower of your blog and I love the inspiration I find here!

  3. oh man, I just love Ellen! and you're absolutely right, laughter is one of the most powerful things on earth and it's a shame we don't do it more. there's nothing like some big crazy laughing session with my friends over stupid things to cheer me up. :]
good luck with the job hunt!
